Carrier Review: Soul Slings' Ring Sling - Double Layer Coal Chambray

Type of Carrier: Soul Slings’ Ring Sling
Carrier details: Coal Chambray Double Layer (reversible); 100% linen; 28 inches wide and 83 Inches long
Wrappee:  BabyG (boy)– 10 months – 10kgs/22 lbs
Wrapper:  small – chubby build

Overview:

I was very excited to try this when it first arrived. Aside from the fact that it’ll be my first ring sling to try, it is also from India. I just have to say that it arrived really fast via DHL; it just took less than 5 days.

This ‘soul’ number is straight from the mystical land of India where it holds a pocketful of sleepy dust and cushion.

A quick look at how it started: co-owner Chinmayie is a mother of two lovely children and discovered a need for better options than the standard bulky, padded carriers. Ring Slings were not available in India and she had to order from the US so, one day, she decided to take the reigns of design and business that’s when the Soul Slings was born.

Design Double layer spells double comfort. It was already fluffy before I washed it. It is very manageable from the get-go, not a lot of breaking in needed for this double layer sling. Coal Chambray is very neutral and flexible for both genders to wear. I also like how it is reversible, stylish and modern for your outfits to be paired with.

You may use the extra tail as a hoodie as I do when it’s too bright or too humid for naptime. It can double as a private screen if you’re breastfeeding when you’re out and about.

Unlike wraps, it’s a no-brainer and easy to use. It’s lightweight, easy to stow away or you can just let it hang on your shoulder to just pop your baby in and out. Don’t let the thin linen fool you, it holds great support but very breezy and comfy. Its natural linen fibers have antibacterial qualities, too.

Natural linen fibers can normally come a little loose so, no worries, it’s one of its ‘unique and beautiful’ characteristics. 1

·     Weather/seasonIt’s normally recommended for cooler seasons but I still find it breezy for tropical seasons.

·     Type/s of carry -  Hip and front carries were tried and I must say that the sling delivers! I was kind of hesitant to wear Baby G on one shoulder as he is growing really heavy. 2

I wore him for about 1 hour at a mall this Halloween and later on decided to check out the new Sky Ranch (which looks like a mini them park with about a dozen rides). Baby G was a happy camper despite the crowd, the noise and bedtime was drawing near at that time.

·       Mummy budget – For under $48 or 2,250 php, this is a great steal for your starter stash (or your collection).

Sunny summary
I give it 4 sprinkles of sleepy dust out of 5!

Great Image Family Photoshoot

The Christmas Holiday is fast approaching and it is a perfect time for families to get their photos taken. There are many options to choose from and we got ours from Great Image Studios.  We went to Beloved Studios in Megamall which is also a sub-company of Great Images. We were accommodated by their manager, A and Joan, the photographer. They made us feel at ease and were very patient with giving us instructions and they especially loved working with Baby G. I can definitely say they are experienced with handling little kids with their energetic process of capturing memorable shots. Their photoshoot session starts as low as 350php. Great deal, right? The photos below are our high resolution digital files and we got ours sooner than we expected. :) The D'Towns are looking forward to our printed shots - will post them as soon as we get them!  Do you want to get a free photo session with (1) 5R print? Carrier Review: Baby SaBye Mei Tai

Type of Carrier: Baby SaBye Mei Tai Carrier details: Mei Tai  - reversible blue and red; standard size; handwoven 100% natural cotton; vegetable dye The back is 14.5 inches (at waist) and 16 inches (at shoulder) wide; 17 inches tall without waist strap. Each shoulder strap is 9.5 to 10.5 inches wide, and 87 inches long. Waist strap is 3 inches wide and 69 inches long. Wrappee:   BabyG (boy)– 10 months – 10kgs/22 lbs Wrapper:   small – chubby build –US size 10 First glance – Baby Sabye Mei Tai looked thick and a bit rough. This is my first time to try a mei tai and I had some reservations with the straps, the size where Baby G will “sit on”  and if it can withstand Baby G’s weight on the get-go. When I tried tying the waist belt, it was crunchy and I made an effort to tighten the knot to secure it. The straps were thinner than the waist belt which was floppy and flexible. When I wore Baby G, it was an instant hit with us! ...

SAHM TV: TV Guilty Pleasures

Blog entry:  TV Guilty Pleasure First of all, there's a whole lot of misconception that we, SAHMs, are "just" at home and that's all there is to it. We are busy Queen Bees in our own hives. We do chores, cook decent, edible (and sometimes 5-star quality *wink*) meals on top of handling little tykes. These darlings may be small but they can be a handful. As Stay-at-home Moms, we also need a break from our "workload" and we turn the TV on in hopes to see something that can take our mind off all the worries, chores and the list of other things we need to/want to do for the day (or even the next day!). What are your TV guilty pleasures? The kind of which you think you would not really like as much but then you suddenly find yourself following them. Back when I was single, I only had limited TV time and I just selectively watch what truly captured my interest. Here are my Top 5 TV guilty pleasures: 1.) Keeping Up with The Kardashians - ...
