Carrier Review: Soul Slings' Sapphire Sling Ring

Type of Carrier: Soul Slings’ Ring Sling
Carrier details: Sapphire (Dark Blue); 100% linen – machine woven; 27 inches wide and 83 Inches long
Wrappee:  BabyG (boy)– 10 months – 10kgs/22 lbs
Wrapper:  small – chubby build

My first impression was it was very thin, light and flimsy. I was thinking my 10-kilo/22lb champ may be too much to handle for this. Soul Slings Ring Slings’ limit is 15gs or about 27lbs.

For my first test run, I wore him at a local flea market to shop for about 2 hours and he was really well-behaved and content being with Mommy all the time (except for occasional curious moments when he wiggles his  arms out and reach for stuff when I’m not looking!). It was not diggy on my shoulders and I just needed to adjust whenever I needed.

Design – This is a breezy, wafer thin linen sling and surprisingly tenacious for a single layer! Navy or Dark blue is neutral enough to be gender-friendly and can match any outfit since it’s a flexible color. This can definitely fit into your bag without any problems.

Don’t worry about the little lint for the first few times of wearing, it’s a normal for natural linen fibers to be that way. I had to wash this 3 times before the pilling goes away. So, be careful when wearing white or any light color if you’ve only washed it once and plan to wear it for about an hour or so.

Weather/season – Perfect for hot/humid weather; tropical season. It can be used for other cooler seasons as it does not add to “beefy” layers of clothes on.

Type/s of carry -  The single layer linen is slightly slippery at first but once you get the tail well-adjusted, it sticks to its position and it’s not diggy at all. Baby can just pop in and out as he/she pleases.

I also tried the back carry and I have yet to master it further. It needed further adjustments and it can get diggy on the shoulders especially if you’re wearing something sleeveless. Nonetheless, I really do admire it for its supportive nature.

Mummy budget – Snag this away for just under $31 or 1,460 php!

Sunny summary – Ultra light but power packed with sleepy dust and comfort at a reasonably price- I give it 4 sprinkles of sleepy dust out of 5!

Sling meet with the SPiN mommies and they got to try Sapphire, Celadon and Coal Chambray :)

Read my next post for its comparative review with its handwoven 100% cotton cousin, Celadon. ;)

Great Image Family Photoshoot

The Christmas Holiday is fast approaching and it is a perfect time for families to get their photos taken. There are many options to choose from and we got ours from Great Image Studios.  We went to Beloved Studios in Megamall which is also a sub-company of Great Images. We were accommodated by their manager, A and Joan, the photographer. They made us feel at ease and were very patient with giving us instructions and they especially loved working with Baby G. I can definitely say they are experienced with handling little kids with their energetic process of capturing memorable shots. Their photoshoot session starts as low as 350php. Great deal, right? The photos below are our high resolution digital files and we got ours sooner than we expected. :) The D'Towns are looking forward to our printed shots - will post them as soon as we get them!  Do you want to get a free photo session with (1) 5R print? Carrier Review: Baby SaBye Mei Tai

Type of Carrier: Baby SaBye Mei Tai Carrier details: Mei Tai  - reversible blue and red; standard size; handwoven 100% natural cotton; vegetable dye The back is 14.5 inches (at waist) and 16 inches (at shoulder) wide; 17 inches tall without waist strap. Each shoulder strap is 9.5 to 10.5 inches wide, and 87 inches long. Waist strap is 3 inches wide and 69 inches long. Wrappee:   BabyG (boy)– 10 months – 10kgs/22 lbs Wrapper:   small – chubby build –US size 10 First glance – Baby Sabye Mei Tai looked thick and a bit rough. This is my first time to try a mei tai and I had some reservations with the straps, the size where Baby G will “sit on”  and if it can withstand Baby G’s weight on the get-go. When I tried tying the waist belt, it was crunchy and I made an effort to tighten the knot to secure it. The straps were thinner than the waist belt which was floppy and flexible. When I wore Baby G, it was an instant hit with us! ...

SAHM TV: TV Guilty Pleasures

Blog entry:  TV Guilty Pleasure First of all, there's a whole lot of misconception that we, SAHMs, are "just" at home and that's all there is to it. We are busy Queen Bees in our own hives. We do chores, cook decent, edible (and sometimes 5-star quality *wink*) meals on top of handling little tykes. These darlings may be small but they can be a handful. As Stay-at-home Moms, we also need a break from our "workload" and we turn the TV on in hopes to see something that can take our mind off all the worries, chores and the list of other things we need to/want to do for the day (or even the next day!). What are your TV guilty pleasures? The kind of which you think you would not really like as much but then you suddenly find yourself following them. Back when I was single, I only had limited TV time and I just selectively watch what truly captured my interest. Here are my Top 5 TV guilty pleasures: 1.) Keeping Up with The Kardashians - ...
