Carrier Review: Onbu by QB

QB or Quality Brand – QB Collection  is a local business from the Northern mountainous regions of the Philippines. The weavers are natives from the Cordillera province – making our locally woven carriers, indeed, come from the sea of clouds and crafted by heavenly hands. Most QB products have native or tribal patterns that are reminiscent of the Cordilleran culture. Babywearing is part of their culture, too.



First glance – For me, it looked like a cross between an SSC and a Mei Tai. The shoulder straps are thinly padded as if it were an SSC and it does not have locks or clasps, instead, it has straps for you to tie and secure your bubba in place.

Design – I like how light-weight it was and how it was not complicated to wear. My reference for wearing this was wearing a Mei Tai. (check out how to wear a Mei Tai here!)
I recommend to have a wider panel on the leg section to achieve the wide deep M seat. Or that, my son is too big for the standard size. I have yet to experience SSCs so watch out for that tester!

The straps needs some adjusting to fit onto my shoulders perfectly to avoid them from slipping and having any kinds of accidents. It must be that I have petite shoulders (shoulders only haha!) or the straps would need to be re-sized. The chest strap tends to go higher when I try to have a deep M seat for Baby G. The chest strap may need some re-sizing. Also, it would be better if there's a waist strap as added support. 

 Remember, safety first! As a first time Onbu user, I need a bit more adjusting all in all. Hopefully, I'd get to test other Onbu brands to see and feel the difference. 




Weather/season – Slightly warm with baby-mommy (chest to chest) contact but it's quite airy due to its material. It has enough breathing space on the side that allows air to pass through freely. This is perfect for tropical babywearing. 

Mummy budget – It is just below the Soft Structured Carriers (SSC) price tag so it's definitely a super saver.

Sunny summary –  Onbu is a no-brainer, no-fuss type of carrier. You can easily pop your bubba in and out in a jiffy. Due to certain strap adjustments, I'd give it 3.5 out 5 sprinkles of sleepy dust.

    maam nice review just a correction Ifugao is different from Benguet, they are both province of Cordillera. People here are generally called cordilleran or igotrots :)

Great Image Family Photoshoot

The Christmas Holiday is fast approaching and it is a perfect time for families to get their photos taken. There are many options to choose from and we got ours from Great Image Studios.  We went to Beloved Studios in Megamall which is also a sub-company of Great Images. We were accommodated by their manager, A and Joan, the photographer. They made us feel at ease and were very patient with giving us instructions and they especially loved working with Baby G. I can definitely say they are experienced with handling little kids with their energetic process of capturing memorable shots. Their photoshoot session starts as low as 350php. Great deal, right? A Chat with a Top Model: Chesca Lagua

Benefit and Mommievents recently paired up and created a workshop called The Ultimate Guide to Being a Benefit Babe at the dainty Benefit store in Alabang Town Center. Franchesca Lagua is one of the event ambassadors alongside DJ Sexy Megan from Yes FM. Chesca graced us with her top model presence and with an extra helping of sky high legs and ultra lean figure from Shanna Retuya (ramp/commercial/Philippine Fashion week model).  Although the pair towered all of us, they were the most down-to-earth darlings. They were up for selfies and quick chats with participants. I took the opportunity to take a selfie with Chesca which would seemingly look like Lady Galadriel and a hobbit would photograph together. She hunched halfway as I tiptoed, tilted and angled my phone so both of us can fit into the frame.
